Allegrezza stars in furniture bank TV spots

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, August 29, 2005

Ray Allegrezza, editor-in-chief of Furniture/Today and a member of the board of directors of the National Furniture Bank Assn., will star in the first two TV commercials for Help1Up, the effort to encourage consumers and stores to support furniture banks.

Allegrezza will appeal to consumers to support Help1Up by saying, "Did you know that tens of thousands of children in America don't have a bed of their own, and will sleep on the floor tonight? With your support, the furniture industry can change that."

Viewers will be urged to shop at participating Help1Up retailers, whose logos will appear in commercials aired in their areas.

The NFBA is the nonprofit association of furniture banks and administers the furniture industry's unified charitable effort, Help1Up. Furniture banks collect gently used home furnishings from the public and provide it to those in need.

Help1Up encourages consumers to add a tax-deductible 1% to their furniture purchase to support existing furniture banks and help establish new ones.
