Kincaid, Sligh donate furniture to Build for the Cure home

Effort helps fight breast cancer

Tanya K. Merritte -- Furniture Today, October 28, 2009

FORT MILL, S.C. — Kincaid Furniture and Sligh Furniture have joined with the Susan G. Komen foundation as sponsors of the organization's second annual Build for the Cure show home here.

The house in this Charlotte, N.C., suburb is open to the public during October, with proceeds from tours, workshops and other events going to support the Komen fund's mission of finding a cure for breast cancer. Afterward, all the furnishings and décor will be auctioned during a black-tie event.

Kincaid is furnishing a living room in the custom-built 5,700-square-foot house. Contributions include two Berkley sofas, a St. Paul chair, a sofa table and end table from the Laura Ashley Sturlyn collection, and a rush seat bench from the American Journal line.

Sligh is donating furniture from its Tahoe collection for the home office. Pieces include a leg desk, storage cabinet and two flanking bookcases.

The house will be featured beginning in November on the PBS series "For Your Home," which will show the home's construction, interior design and landscaping.
