Shanghai Fangjia gets 0% antidumping rate
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 17, 2009
WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Commerce has assigned a final antidumping duty rate of 0% to Chinese wood bedroom producer Shanghai Fangjia Industry Co. for the first six months of 2008.
The DOC determined that the company had not made sales at less than normal value.
Meanwhile, the department said it was delaying the release of preliminary review results for other companies' 2008 wood bedroom furniture shipments until Feb. 1. The preliminary review was originally planned to be completed Oct. 5, but the DOC said it needed the additional 120 days allowed by law to complete the analysis.
The final results of the 2008 review will be due in early June, or 120 days after the release of the preliminary results. These results will determine whether Chinese bedroom producers warrant an increase or lowering of their initial duty rates.
The duties stem from a 2003 antidumping investigation on Chinese-made wood bedroom furniture. This investigation found that U.S. producers were injured by unfairly underpriced wood bedroom furniture imports from China.
Resulting duties assigned to various Chinese wood bedroom producers are paid by importers of record on these goods.
