High Point Market honored by U.S. Senate

HIGH POINT — The U.S. Senate has passed a resolution honoring the High Point Market as one of the world's premier industry trade shows.
North Carolina's two senators, Democrat Kay Hagan and Republican Richard Burr, introduced the resolution to commemorate the market's 100th anniversary.
It reads in part, “The High Point Market has gained a worldwide reputation as the premier place to experience the newest ideas in home furnishings.”
“North Carolina has a great history in home furnishings and the centennial anniversary of the High Point Market demonstrates North Carolina's great success story in the industry,” said Hagan, who noted that she represented High Point during her first two terms in the state Senate and remains an “ardent proponent” of the market.
“I am committed to ensuring that it remains the country's premier furniture marketplace into the future and will advocate in the U.S. Senate for its continued success,” she said in a press release.
Burr added, “The High Point Market is internationally renowned as a leader in the home furnishings industry, and has served as both an economic and cultural beacon for a century.”
“We are proud to be recognized by Senators Hagan, Burr and the U.S. Senate with this honor, and we will continue to work diligently to expand and improve the market, further cementing our position as the home furnishings industry's most important domestic and international event,” said Brian Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority.
