Consultant shares insight on European design trends

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 17, 2009

Matteson Design and Consulting, headed by principal Jane Matteson, is introducing a product development service that will help U.S. companies reinterpret trends spotted at European markets for their American customers.

The TrendStrategy service will offer insight and product development support based on designs and news coming out of shows such as the Milan Furniture Fair, Maison & Objet, MoOd and Proposte.

Matteson, whose background includes upholstery merchandising, showroom design and strategic product development, said the service is a way to help home furnishings companies who are grappling with smaller staffs and reduced travel budgets.

“With my clients, our mutual goal is to develop furniture products that will sell through at retail here in the U.S.,” said Matteson, who is a creative consultant with Toray Ultrasuede, America.

“The TrendStrategy service is more than a trend report,” she said. “It includes business and marketing analysis, strategic product development consulting, merchandising support and timeline management.”

The service is offered on a by-project and retainer basis. Matteson can be reached by e-mail at janematteson@earthlink.net.
