Sally Ann Dupree, founder of Dupree’s Furniture
CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. — Sally Ann Dupree, a longtime retailer in the East Bay area of California, has died at age 71.
Dupree and her husband, Bill, opened Dupree’s Furniture in 1972 in Oakland. The store is now in San Leandro.
Sally Dupree was secretary-treasurer of the store for several years and ran her own location at one time. The current Dupree’s is operated by Bill Dupree and two of their daughters, Denise and Serena.
In addition to those three, Dupree’s survivors include her daughter Deborah, son William, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Sterling Allen Zindler, buyer for Finger, Lacks Valley
HOUSTON — Sterling Allen Zindler, a longtime buyer from the Houston area, has died.
Zindler was a buyer for Finger Furniture in Houston and Lacks Valley Furniture in McAllen, Texas, among other positions he held during his more than 40 years in the furniture industry.
He also enjoyed fishing and was a member of the Gulf Coast Conservation Assn.
Zindler is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters-in-law, five grandchildren, a brother, a sister and several nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center or Congregation Beth Israel.
John Robert 'Bob’ Martin, sales rep for Royal Pacific
HAYWARD, Calif. — John Robert “Bob” Martin, a longtime furniture and appliance sales representative in northern California, has died. He was 86.
Martin was active until about a year ago when his health declined. He represented Royal Pacific Mattress Co. and earlier had worked with companies including DPE Mfg. and James Stone Mfg. He began his career 60 years ago as an appliance rep, and sold lines including Lancaster and Motorola.
He is survived by three children, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
David H. Shearin, sales rep for Elite, Caraway
RICHMOND, Va. — David H. Shearin, a longtime furniture sales representative for Elite and earlier with Caraway, has died. He was 70.
He is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Shearin, two daughters and four grandchildren.
