Malaysia Furniture Fair set for March 2-6
Show will include new portion open to public
Tom Russell -- Furniture Today, November 3, 2009
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — The 2010 Malaysian Furniture Fair will take place March 2-6 in three venues, show officials said this week.
The Putra World Trade Center will mainly house office and residential case goods, while the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center will house upholstery.
Meanwhile, the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Center will house a new part of the show called ID Trends, which will be open to the public March 3-7. Exhibits there will focus on interior design trends and home improvement products.
Officials said they decided to add a public portion to the show in response to consumers who said they wanted to be able to see and purchase items shown at the annual trade fair.
So far, more than 500 exhibitors from Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States have signed up to exhibit in 2010.
This year's event had about 450 exhibitors and drew just over 19,000 visitors. The 2010 show is expected to draw about 20,000, show officials said.
