WOODBURY, N.Y. — Levitz Furniture has hired Jane Gilmartin as senior vice president and chief merchandising officer, responsible for buying, merchandise planning and allocation, and visual merchandising.
She replaces Chris Pelcher, who left earlier this year to join Levin Furniture of Smithton, Pa. She reports to Tom Baumlin, CEO of the 78-store Top 100 chain.
A nearly 30-year veteran of retail, Gilmartin most recently was executive vice president and chief merchandising officer at Linens ’n Things.
She worked at Fortunoff from 1977 to 1990, rising to vice president for tabletop, crystal, dinnerware and other goods, and has held executive posts at companies including DD’s Discounts (a division of Ross Stores), Intercontinental Art and Bed, Bath & Beyond.
“Jane brings an incredible depth and breadth of experience to Levitz and will play a central role in our commitment to deliver an expanded and compelling merchandise assortment to our customers,” Baumlin said. “Her diverse experience in fashion, visual merchandising and executive leadership will be put to immediate use in our strategic and tactical planning as we build on the momentum established in the past few months.”
Gilmartin said the recently opened and renovated Levitz stores “are receiving tremendous support from our customers and trade partners. … We look forward to delivering improved and exceptional style, along with the unparalleled quality and value customers expect from Levitz.”
