PHILADELPHIA - Nearly 120 industry representatives and guests of the Tri-State Home Furnishings Assn. were on hand to honor International Market Centers CEO Bob Maricich as the group's 2013 Person of the Year during an annual awards dinner here.
Maricich also led a roundtable discussion and spoke at the event, engaging the audience with a talk on lifestyle presentations and offering insight into how the combined Las Vegas and High Point markets came to be.
Others honored at the Nov. 12 event at Crowne Plaza-Philadelphia West here included Ken Gilberg, Tri-State HFA's preferred counsel, who received the Humanitarian Award for his work with charitable groups, and Ed Myers, who received the Hall of Fame honor this year.

Myers is past president of Tri-State and the International Home Furnishings Representatives Assn. He continues to serve IHFRA as financial advisor and has remained active on the Tri-State HFA's board. Accepting the honor, Myers noted how he had been taught by the late Jerry Pauley, a past president and chairman of Tri-State, to "do the right thing."
In addition, members of the group honored Sean Orlando, Ashley, with its Representative of the Year award. Last year's winner, J.J. McLaughlin, called Orlando a "family man" who is always ready to pitch in.
Stuart Perlmutter of Harold's Furniture, Lebanon, Pa., was voted Retailer of the Year, recognized for his "comeback" attitude following a flood that took out the lower level of his store a year ago.
Bill Bradley of Interiors, Lancaster, Pa., received the Congeniality Award, with Tri-State's president and Lexington Home Brands representative Tommy Leflein saying Bradley is pleasant "even if he's not giving you a sale."
In addition to other awards presented that previously were reported, Leflein presented Presidential Awards to Kathy Parks of IHFRA, David Ashwell of Zenith Global Logistics and Patrick Cory of Cory 1st Choice Home Delivery for "exceptional service and support of Tri-State HFA and its members."
