Aaron's has promoted Steven A. Michaels, vice president of finance, to vice president of strategic planning and business development, a new position. Michaels has been with the company since 1995 and has held various roles starting in the audit department. He has been vice president of finance since 2008.

In his new role, he will oversee new business development and strategic analysis for future growth.

Robert W. Kamerschen, senior vice president and general counsel, has added corporate secretary to his responsibilities. He joined the company in June and manages legal and governmental affairs. As corporate secretary, he will support the board of directors and lead the company's corporate governance initiatives.

Both Michaels and Kamerschen report to Ronald W. Allen, president, chairman and CEO.

The company also has named Kimberly R. Rivera vice president of learning and development, a new position. In this role, Rivera will create and refine training and development programs for the company's 12,000 associates.

She has 17 years of experience in corporate coaching, human resources and training and development. She most recently owned a corporate training and development company and worked as a consultant to Aaron's to create a leadership development program for the management team. She reports to Chad Strickland, vice president of associate resources.

"This is an exciting time for all members of Aaron's as we continue to strengthen our management team and build a platform for sustainable growth," Allen said in a statement.
