Furniture Brands shifts Drexel Heritage to Designer Brands unit
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, May 17, 2013
ST. LOUIS — Furniture Brands International has moved Drexel Heritage into to its Designer Brands unit to better align it with other core brands geared to designers and upper-end retail channels, the company said.
As part of this move, Furniture Brands named Dan Bradley president of Drexel Heritage. He continues to head the Designer Brands unit, which also includes Hickory Chair, Henredon, Lane Venture, Pearson, Maitland-Smith and LaBarge.
Ed Teplitz was previously president of Drexel Heritage and Thomasville Home Furnishings. He remains president of Thomasville, overseeing the manufacturing side of the business and the Thomasville store network.
In his role as vice president of sales for Drexel Heritage, Chip Stewart previously was the top executive overseeing the brand, said Lisa Hanly, a spokeswoman for Furniture Brands. However, she said, Stewart left the company last year and was not replaced.
"Moving Drexel Heritage is part of Furniture Brands' plan to move same-type businesses together to simplify structure, significantly reduce costs and increase sales opportunities," Hanly said.
In addition to Drexel Heritage, Bradley is president of Henredon, Maitland-Smith and La Barge. Other Designer Brands company presidents are Jay Reardon at Hickory Chair, Gary McCray at Lane Venture and Mike Heath at Pearson.
