Plano, Texas — Rent-A-Center has agreed to pay $4.95 million to settle class-action lawsuits alleging violation of wage-and-hour laws in California.
The money, less attorneys' fees, will be distributed to people who were company employees from August 1998 through the date of the preliminary court approval of the settlement. Rent-A-Center estimates the class size at about 6,000 people.
In connection with the settlement, Rent-A-Center did not admit any liability for its wage-and-hour practices in California.
