OFMA, NHFA salute Novosel

Mississauga, Ontario — Some 250 people gathered here during the Toronto summer market to salute Dennis Novosel, president and founder of Stoney Creek Furniture, as the 2006 Canadian Retailer of the Year.

The award, given by the Ontario Furniture Manufacturers Assn., recognizes outstanding commitment and contributions to the industry and wider community. Novosel also received a special citation for ongoing service from the National Home Furnishings Assn., which he served as president in 2004.

In an off-the-cuff, emotional acceptance speech, Novosel likened the industry to a family where people still go out of their way to help each other.

"Thank you for being my friend. I still believe in the future of this industry," he said.
