Growth drives personnel changes at Designtex

To keep up with the pace of growth, Designtex President Tom Hamilton and Executive Vice President for Product Development and Marketing Leslie Lewitas have made a number of personnel changes over the last year, they said.
Jane Wicks was named director of design for fabrics, both upholstery and drapery. She has been with Designtex for more than five years and originally came on board as a senior designer for hospitality. After 10 months with the company, she became the director of design for hospitality. Prior to Designtex, Wicks was a designer for Himatsingka Seide, an Indian silk mill supplying high-end residential fabric houses, for two years. In her current position, she oversees the development of the Designtex Home collection, as well as the healthcare and hospitality lines.
Rich Morrow, who joined Designtex as a senior designer in the fall of last year, has been named director of design for the corporate line, including fabrics, wallcoverings and panel textiles. Before joining Designtex, Morrow was a designer for Maharam, where he was responsible for highperformance woven wallcoverings, panel fabrics and technical products.
Jamie Berg was named manager of wallcovering product development. Berg has been with Designtex for nine years. Prior to joining the Designtex Varick Street Design Studio, she was the New York City wallcoverings sales representative for the JM Lynne brand, and then assumed the same position in 2001 for Designtex when the companies merged.
Additionally, Leigh Douglass, who has been with Designtex for three years, was promoted to senior designer. Before joining Designtex, Douglass was a designer for Wearbest Sil-tex Mills for two years. She will focus on the expanding corporate product offering.
Kelly Thompson has joined the company as the marketing communications manager. Previously Thompson worked for six years within the marketing communications department of Designtex parent company Steelcase, where she helped manage all print and electronic media projects for the company. In her new position, Thompson will develop and lead all corporate, marketing and promotional efforts, oversee development of sales materials/brochures and take the lead on product positioning/branding and maintenance of the Web site for Designtex.
