IFDA chapter co-sponsoring two luncheons

High Point — The Carolinas Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Assn. is co-sponsoring two luncheons, hosting a hospitality area and presenting two Bill Peterson Scholarship awards at this week's market.
The chapter is joining the International Home Furnishings Center in sponsoring luncheons geared toward interior designers. On Tuesday, Oct. 17, Lyn Peterson will speak on "Real Life Renovations" and will sign books. On Wednesday, Oct. 18, Michelle Lamb will discuss "Nine New Trends ... A Vision for the Future."
The noon luncheons are held on the Club Level of the International Home Furnishings Center and cost $15. Space is limited. For reservations, contact Gaye Outlaw at (336) 888-3754.
The IFDA chapter also will host a hospitality area for members attending market and those wishing to learn more about the professional organization, which encompasses all areas of furnishings and design. It's in the cafe of 200 Steele.
The Bill Peterson Scholarships will be presented during a breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 19, also in the café of 200 Steele. The cost is $10. For reservations, call (336) 885-5266.
Recipients of this year's scholarships, in memory of the founding editor of Furniture/ Today, are High Point University students Laura Kirkman and Jenny Shi.
Kirkman, an interior design major, graduated from Southeast Guilford High School in Greensboro, N.C. She has a 3.74 grade point average and hopes to own a design firm.
Shi, a home furnishings marketing major, graduated from ZheJiang Yingxian High School in China, maintains a 3.75 GPA and is interested in global marketing and international business.
The chapter also recently held a luncheon program featuring Lisa Jenkins, account executive, architecture-design, for The Sherwin Williams Co.'s Southeast Division. She presented "Color Forecasting - A Peek Behind the Palette," and provided over 60 attendees with color samples for 2007. Among those present were about 20 High Point University students and members of the High Point Showroom Assn.
