YWCA offering child care
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, October 15, 2006
High Point — The downtown YWCA here is offering child care for furniture market attendees and exhibitors.
From 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on market days, today through Sunday, children six months old and above can stay at the Y and enjoy activities, games, snacks, lunch, movies and naps.
"One of our board members expressed a need for it," said Heidi Majors, YWCA executive director. "So we decided we needed to support the High Point Market."
The Y has offered child care for the past three markets, but word hasn't gotten out and turnout has been low. In April, only two children attended. There is space for 30 children.
"It's something that makes it easier for attendees or people working, if they need temporary day care," said Majors.
The fee for children 3 years old and up is $30 per day. Parents should call the Y for fees on younger children. The child- care program for market was developed for a limited number of children, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The YWCA is at 112 Gatewood Avenue. For information, call the Y at (336) 882-4126, or visit the Web site, www.ywcahp.com/Market.htm.
