TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. - Workers at upholstery and case goods source Kincaid Furniture's plant here have reached a safety milestone - one million continuous hours worked without loss of time due to accident or injury.
"The safety of our employees is of the utmost importance at all of our manufacturing facilities," said Steve Kincaid, president of Kincaid, a La-Z-Boy company. "We take pride in the quality of our furniture, but safety comes first."
Kincaid recognized the milestone with an employee celebration at the Taylorsville plant. The plant has been part of Kincaid since 2000 and has 82 workers.
As part of a comprehensive safety program, Plant Manager Stephen Little, Safety Director Stephanie St. Pierre and other leaders hold regular safety meetings and offer education to employees. Safety education topics include everything from machinery-related safety to environmental safety regulations.
"We haven't had a lost-time accident since April 2007," said St. Pierre. "It takes a substantial amount of training and focus to reach this milestone, and I'm proud of our employees' dedication to safety."
