United Sleep rolls out Nature's Dream pillows
By David Perry -- Furniture Today, October 17, 2006
High Point — All sleepers are not alike. Nor are their favorite pillows.
That's one of the guiding principles behind the new Nature's Dreams pillow program, a comprehensive offering that United Sleep Products is rolling out at the market here.
The producer, owned by Northlight Capital since the first of this year, makes a strong entry into the pillow arena with its new program. The company, which shows on the third floor of the Independence Hall building at 114 N. Main Street, blends four types of pillows in various designs and feels to target the three different sleeping styles and meet every sleeper's needs, the company says.
The four materials offered include some traditional favorites such as 100% latex, visco-elastic memory foam and faux-down.
There's also a new proprietary material, NanTex, a visco foam that has latex-like recovery properties. That molded, proprietary visco foam offers "the best of both worlds" in visco and latex feels, according to the company. The visco material is formulated to reduce stress and pain by keeping the head and neck in alignment during sleep. The latex-like qualities of the foam provide "instantaneous proprietary recovery," United Sleep said.
The program notes which types of pillows and designs are geared to the three basic sleeping positions: stomach sleepers, back sleepers and side sleepers.
It says that stomach sleepers need a soft, relatively flat pillow with just enough support for the head to be aligned with the spine. Back sleepers need a pillow with medium firmness that provides support to the neck, head, spine and shoulders, while side sleepers need a firm pillow that supports the neck and head for a horizontal, relaxed position for the spine, according to United Sleep.
Graphics with sales materials that support the program indicate each of the three sleep positions, helping consumers find the pillows that are best for their sleep position.
United Sleep officials say the support materials are designed to make it easier for retail sales associates to sell pillows. The program offers various merchandising options so that it can be tailored to a retailer's needs, the officials say.
All of the pillows come with plush, eight-ounce velour allergen-resistant covers.
