Industry sales veteran, consultant Ed Walsh dies at 72

BEAUFORT, N.C. — Industry veteran Ed Walsh, a longtime furniture sales representative and executive, died last week after a struggle with a rare cancer. He was 72.
Walsh, an avid hunter, fisherman and boating enthusiast, was a Georgetown University graduate and had 40 years of industry experience.
He was a sales representative Drexel Furniture and Schnadig and later served in sales management and executive roles at Stanley Furniture, Tell City Chair, Fairmont Designs and most recently Leda Furniture - among others - and worked as a consultant in recent years.
In lieu of flowers the family is creating a memorial fund. Its address will be: Ed Walsh Memorial Fund, c/o Madison Marquette, 532 Governor Morrison St., Suite 200, Charlotte, N.C. 28211.
Checks can be made payable to Cathy Walsh and funds will be donated to various charities, including research for neuroendocrine carcinoid cancers and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
The family will hold a celebration of life on July 20 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the clubhouse of the Olde Towne Yacht Club, at 100 Olde Towne Yacht Club Road, Beaufort, N.C. 28516.
