New York IFDA chapter hosting program on ways to use social media

November 17 event will feature Steve Halsey, Susan Serra

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 6, 2009

NEW YORK — The New York chapter of The International Furnishings and Design Assn. will host a program on Tuesday, Nov. 17, on ways to use social media sites to build a reputation and communicate with potential customers.

Presenters will include Steve Halsey, a vice president at Gibbs & Soell public relations and head of the agency's digital media effort, and Susan Serra, an award-winning designer and author of a blog at thekitchendesigner.org, whose work has been widely published.

Halsey will discuss digital strategies and ways to manage the day-to-day components that become part of an integrated PR program. Serra will give examples of what works in building an online identity through social media sites.

Audra Hession, vice president of Gibbs & Soell, will moderate.

The program will take place in the Gibbs & Soell offices in the Lincoln Building, 60 East 42nd St. Seating will begin at 4:15 p.m. with a one-hour presentation starting at 4:30 p.m. Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Space is limited and reservations are required by Nov. 12. The cost is $25 for IFDA members, $40 for guests, $15 for IFDA student members and $20 for student guests. To make a reservation, call (212) 686-6020 or e-mail ifdanyny@verizon.net.
