Notes influence in the bedding industry

GREENVILLE, Texas — Furniture|Today's bedding experts receive some favorable reviews in Gerry Morris' new book on mattress selling, "Sell More Beds Guaranteed!"
Morris, a veteran bedding sales rep who has conducted numerous sales training seminars, credits a column by Larry Thomas with helping to raise his profile in the industry. "This is the column that really got things going for me," Morris writes in his introduction to the column, reprinted in the new book. "I still feel indebted to Larry."In that column, published in Furniture|Today in 2001, then-bedding editor Thomas wrote: "Gerry Morris, a veteran manufacturer's representative, has competed in several (125+) triathlons, but his toughest challenges haven't stemmed from the six-mile run or the 25-mile bike ride or the one-mile swim required in such events. He says it can be a lot tougher to convince some furniture store sales associates to sell bedding."And Morris credits Furniture|Today's current bedding editor, David Perry, with helping him appreciate the prevalence of white ticking. When Perry returned to the bedding beat at Furniture|Today, Morris recalled, one of his first columns "was about the proliferation of white and neutral covers. Until then, I had not realized how widespread they had become."*Also see
