HIGH POINT - Cathy Brewer Hinson, manager of the Union Square furniture showroom building here, plans to run for Congress to challenge Rep. Howard Coble in the Republican primary next year, according to the Greensboro News & Record.The newspaper reported that Hinson is making her first bid for public office. The filing period is Feb. 8-26 and the primary is May 4.
"I am announcing early for name recognition purposes," Hinson told the paper. "I have the education and business experience to qualify me to be a representative. We are experiencing a two-tier system - the ‘elitist' attitude of the majority of Congress, and the people of the United States."
