Final sentencing in Bassett embezzlement case
Woman given 10 days in jail

DOBSON, N.C. — Four years of investigation and legal proceedings in an embezzlement case that netted about $2 million from a Bassett Furniture case goods plant here ended on Tuesday, according to a story in the Mount Airy News.Lisa Marie Galyean Martin was given a series of monthly terms, all of which were suspended except for 10 days in jail and probation for 36 months, plus community service, restitution and a fine, the story said.
Martin was believed to have played a key role in the embezzlement scheme, since she was in charge of computers at the plant and could obscure tracking of furniture produced there, the story said. The plant has since been closed.
