Staff Staff -- Furniture Today, March 1, 2010
High Point University's Knabusch-Shoemaker International School of Home Furnishings & Design will host a day-long Social Media Marketing seminar here April 7.
Featuring keynote speaker and social media authority Leslie Carothers, the program will explore the role that social media marketing can play in reaching today's consumers.
Designed for the home furnishings industry, including manufacturers, importers, retailers and interior designers, the program will run from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Francis Auditorium, Room 120 of Phillips Hall.
Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from a panel of High Point University students, as representatives of Generation Y, on how they can be reached via social media communities such as Facebook, YouTube, MySpace and Twitter.
In addition, a panel of experts including a manufacturer, a retailer and an interior designer will discuss how they are using social media marketing techniques to reach present and potential customers.
Other sessions will examine how to get started with social media, how to keep your message consistent across various types of social media, and where social media are headed.
The cost to attend the event is $25 and seating is limited. The school recommends that interested parties reserve their seats by sending a check payable to High Point University to: Susan Clark, Drawer 41, High Point University, 833 Montlieu Ave., High Point, N.C. 27262
