HIGH POINT — Furnitureland South here is celebrating its 40th anniversary this month and next with a dining room giveaway and other discounts.
Founded in 1969 by CEO Darrell Harris, the Top 100 company has grown from a one-man operation to what it says is the largest U.S. furniture store, with a campus of showrooms featuring 1.3 million square feet of selling space and more than 150 sales and design consultants.
"I prefer to think that Furnitureland South became the largest as a result of my genuine desire to offer our customers the winning combination of the best service, the most choices and the greatest values," Harris said.
The company said it has teamed with hundreds of its suppliers to offer special discounts in November and December. In addition, customers also can register in the store or online to win a Mirador dining room table and chairs.
