Appoints executives in purchasing, sourcing and merchandising

The company has named Melvin Wilson as senior vice president of operations, a new position. In that role, he will oversee manufacturing, quality assurance, wood sampling and maintenance at the company's Plant 1 location in Ho Chi Minh City. Wilson most recently served as vice president of manufacturing at Hickory Chair and also has been vice president of operations at Simex International.
Brian Martin has been named manager of research and development, overseeing product design, sample finishing, wax carvings and fittings. He has worked in product development for Pennsylvania House, Outlook International and Lilly Inds.

The company has promoted Werner Freundel to director of the merchandising department. In this role, he also will communicate with customers, salespeople, manufacturing and product development to make sure products align with the needs and demands of today's consumers.
Rajeev Kapoor has been appointed to head up a new materials sourcing department. Kapoor, who has been with Theodore Alexander since 2001, will help identify sourcing opportunities and potential vendors and also will be charged with the selection and development of materials and other subcomponents used in the product line.
The company also has promoted Nguyen Thahn Giang to manager of the company's purchasing department. She will oversee the day-to-day purchasing activities and manage the development and execution of the requisition process, including reorder points and making sure all specifications are met. She has previously served in the company's purchasing and logistics departments.
