Factory Direct, Sealy donating furniture for homeless in New Jersey

Furnishing 15 apartments in Paterson

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 19, 2009

PATERSON, N.J. — Factory Direct Furniture, which operates Ashley Furniture HomeStores in northern New Jersey and New York, and Sealy Mattress Co. here are donating new furniture and mattress sets for 15 Paterson apartments for homeless individuals.

The company's are partnering with New Jersey Community Development Corp. as part of the nonprofit group's "Housing First" initiative.

"Factory Direct and Sealy have truly shown their commitment to the community with these donations, and we are so very thankful," said NJCDC President Bob Guarasci. "What better way for these individuals to start a new phase of their life than with items that demonstrate their personal value and self-worth, like beautiful furniture and a comfortable bed."

Factory Direct Furniture owns and operates Ashley Furniture HomeStores in Paramus, Fairfield, Hasbrouck Heights and Secaucus, N.J., and in New Rochelle and Middletown, N.Y.

Factory Direct President and CEO Eugene Chrinian said the NJCDC model for providing housing to the formerly homeless aligns with the values and principles by which the leadership of our organization is guided. "We are pleased to be aligned with NJCDC and look forward to working together on an ongoing basis to enact sustainable change in our local community."
