GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Home theater furniture supplier RowOne, a division of Jasper Cabinet, has added eCoupled wireless power transfer technology to its line of seating. The eCoupled technology tracks a device's power needs, battery life and charging lifecycles and transfers power from a charging surface to eCoupled-enabled cell phones, flashlights, remotes, Bluetooth or other devices. Set an enabled device on the eCoupled surface and it charges without having to be plugged in.
At RowOne, the eCoupled surface is on a wedge console that is between the seats in the company's Marquis collection. The technology will be expanded to its Bijou collection, computer secretaries and chair arms, among other items.
"Our home theater work surfaces will be transformed into wireless charging stations, eliminating the need for power cords and battery chargers around the home," said Robert Cribbs, president of the division and of Jasper Cabinet, in a press release.
The technology has made news in recent weeks, with Dell announcing it is launching a laptop computer stand with the eCoupled feature.
