Construction starts on Ikea store in Winnipeg

Work expected to take 18 months

Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, November 23, 2009

WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Construction is set to begin this week on a 350,000-square-foot Ikea store here, which will be the anchor for a major residential and commercial development here called Seasons at Tuxedo, CBS News reported.

Construction is expected to take about 18 months, with the store opening scheduled between late 2011 and early 2013.

Ikea will join hotels, theaters, restaurants, and other ventures in about 1.5 million square feet of development.
