Redesigns bedroom of single father

PATERSON, N.J. — Greenbaum Interiors helped redesign the bedroom of a single father in Piscataway, N.J., as part of the popular real estate and home renovation show "Openhouse NYC" on New York's WNBC-TV.

In the show's "To the Rescue" segment, David Zisa, senior designer at the Paterson-based retailer, helped create a master bedroom suite for Alex Adkins, who lost his wife to breast cancer and is raising two sons.

"The homeowner is a warm and caring father, and I wanted to design a room that was spacious and comfortable," Zisa said. "After a long day of work and taking care of his young sons, I'd think he needs a peaceful space to retreat to."

Zisa's redesign included replacing the outdated floral wallpaper, dismantling a closet and designing a cabinet to hold Adkins' flat-screen TV and clothing. He also designed a custom upholstered headboard, bed and window treatments made in Greenbaum Interiors' workrooms. Longtime Greenbaum suppliers provided the materials.
