Raymour & Flanigan opens N.Y.-area store

Will be 12th store in region

By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, December 21, 2006

LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- Raymour & Flanigan Furniture has opened a 63,072-square-foot showroom at 200 Route 17 North in Paramus, N.J.

Housed in a new, two-story facility, this Raymour & Flanigan Furniture showroom is the 12th store in the retailer’s New York metropolitan region and the 70th store companywide.

“It’s fitting that we reach this milestone as we enter what has long been considered one of the major U.S. shopping meccas,” said Neil Goldberg, president and CEO.  “Our lower overhead and growing negotiation clout with our manufacturers means we can offer the stylish, well-built products so many want, but at unbeatable prices.  With our commitment to deliver in three days or less, customers get better furniture sooner than expected.”

Raymour & Flanigan Furniture also has opened stores recently in Watchung, N.J.; Wilmington, Del.; and Farmingdale, N.Y., on Long Island.

From its suburban Syracuse, N.Y. campus, Raymour & Flanigan Furniture now owns and operates 64 showrooms and six Clearance Centers across the Northeast. The 59-year-old retailer employs more than 3,700 associates throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Construction to accommodate Raymour & Flanigan Furniture’s expansion has been visible at its Liverpool, N.Y.,  campus since 2005 and will continue through 2007, when work is done on and/or in three office complexes.  The 380,600-square-foot addition to the retailer’s distribution center there is already completed, while dramatic changes within the shell of the former Gaylord Inds. building – purchased earlier this year -- will make way for the Raymour & Flanigan Furniture Leadership Development Institute in first quarter 2007.
