Universal/Legacy parent appoints Mihalik, Word

High Point — Samson Marketing has named Richard Mihalik vice president of operations and Jerry Word vice president of information technology.
Both are new posts at Samson, the holding company that oversees importers Universal and Legacy Classic.
Mihalik most recently was vice president of operations for Legacy Classic. Reporting to Samson Marketing President and CEO Kevin O'Connor, he will oversee warehousing and quality control for both Universal and Legacy Classic.
Word most recently was vice president of information technology for Universal. He reports to Samson Marketing Chief Financial Officer Victor Hsu and will oversee the IT staff, which will be consolidated at Samson's new offices in High Point.
In a related move, the company has named Loren Morse, who has been Legacy Classic supply chain manager, as director of quality control for both Universal and Legacy Classic, also a new position.
Reporting to Mihalik, he will oversea quality control operations for both companies, in China and the United States, and will coordinate packaging and engineering standards.
