Living Spaces to open Phoenix area store Aug. 8

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Living Spaces formally announced plans to open a 130,000-square-foot store here Aug. 8.
The planned move into greater Phoenix was first reported by Furniture/Today earlier this year.
Living Spaces is the first of two Top 100 giants coming to this market. In September, Englewood, Colo.-based American Furniture Warehouse expects to open a 550,000-square-foot facility - 150,000-square-foot showroom and 400,000-square-foot distribution center - in Gilbert, Ariz., the first of two megastores it plans for the market.
In a release, the Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.-based Living Spaces said its Scottsdale store - on North Scottsdale Road in the Promenade shopping center - will feature more than 150 living rooms, more than 70 bedrooms and an assortment of other goods including dining room, youth bedroom, home office furniture and accessories.
The store, in a space formerly occupied by The Great Indoors, is the company's first outside Southern California and ninth overall. It will offer a custom-order program that promises two-week delivery and a "10% Low Price Guarantee," the company said.
Among the store's features will be an Elements accent gallery that the retailer said will feature one-of-a-kind pieces sourced around the globe; a Revive Sleep Center featuring Sealy, Serta, Circadian and Tempur-Pedic brands; and a supervised kids' fun room.
The retailer also said it is creating more than 150 jobs with the new store, including positions at the already opened Phoenix warehouse and its non-commissioned store sales staff.
In addition, the retailer said it has incorporated green features, including LED lighting, integrated power management systems and advanced temperature control monitors into the store.
"While some of the building's features from its period as The Great Indoors have been retained, nearly 100% of the demolition materials that resulted from construction have been recycled for future use on other projects," Living Spaces added.
Living Spaces is No. 36 on Furniture/Today's Top 100 with estimated sales of $200 million at eight California stores in 2012.
