FRANKFURT, Germany -- Four themes in decorative fabrics and home furnishings will be featured in the Trend Presentation, an annual highlight of the Heimtextil fabric show here, Jan. 10-13.
Showcasing the work of Gunnar Frank of The Netherlands, the presentation will focus on color. One theme, Constructive Power, will treat primary colors in a pure manner with intense combinations, and stepping down from what Frank said were the Baroque and whimsical tendencies of recent years.
In Cubism Monochrome, a family of seven neutral colors merges with cubist design. Surreal Sunny focuses on warm yellow and red tones mixed with surrealist-inspired style elements. Yellow replaces blue, the color of 2006, and 1950s fabrics inspire the designs. The fourth theme, Futurism Dawn, features the cool mood of blue-gray, and blue-and- white combinations used with great simplicity.Heimtex also will feature the work of 17 European universities, offering innovative projects that are ready for commercial adaptation in Hall 1.1. Earlier presentations featured only German universities. Newly highlighted at Heimtex is a range of textiles for large-scale commercial projects, including cruise ships and hotels, said Detlef Braun, a board member of Messe Frankfurt, which produces the show. Showcase Cruise will be in Hall 3.1, and Showcase Hotel in Hall 9.2.Throughout Heimtex, exhibitors featuring fabrics for contract use will have symbols on their stands indicating their participation. Mattresses and top-of-bed products will be the focus of an exhibit highlighting Marriott's new Revive bed concept.
