Harden Furniture shows in building

HIGH POINT — A fire occurred in the Harden Furniture showroom at 200 N. Hamilton St. here late Monday, though information was not immediately available on the extent of damage.
Denita Lynch, a spokesperson for the High Point Fire Department, said an alarm was triggered by smoke detectors on the second floor of the building, which is owned by Hamilton Properties. Trucks were dispatched at 11:40 p.m. Monday and arrived two minutes later.
“Smoke was reported on all three floors of the building and no one was in the building at the time,” Lynch said. She did not know why the smoke detectors on the first floor, where Harden is located, didn’t trigger the alarm.
Cause of the fire was listed as “undetermined” after an initial inspection by fire department investigators, Lynch said.
The Harden showroom is open year-round by appointment.
