Performance fabric supplier Glen Raven buying distributors Astrup, John Boyle

Glen Raven, N.C. — Performance fabric supplier Glen Raven is buying The Astrup Co. and John Boyle & Co., both distributors of supplies for the casual furniture, awning and marine industries, including Glen Raven's Sunbrella brand fabrics.
Allen Gant Jr., president of Glen Raven, said the move will "create a stronger, more diversified organization" and "will allow us to grow each of the markets we serve by working more directly with our customers."
Astrup and Boyle have done business with Glen Raven for more than 100 years. All three companies are family-owned, by descendants of their founders.
"Timing is ideal for the merger of our companies," Gant said. "Today's global markets demand innovative products, efficient supply chains, close working relationships with customers and strong consumer brands.
"We can achieve all of this and more by joining forces with the talented people at Boyle and Astrup," he continued.
