Jeffco says future uncertain

Hildebran, N.C. — High-end producer Jeffco Furniture, a 38-year-old family-owned company, said last week it is still operating and shipping goods while it considers offers from potential buyers.
Jeff Gaynor, co-owner of the company with his wife, Paula, told Furniture/Today the company's future is uncertain.
"We will continue to operate through the end of January, but we don't expect to continue at this (North Carolina) location," he said. "Right now we're in the process of regrouping. We had hoped for some outside financing to come into the business, but the industry and the retail environment are struggling.
"There is nothing definitive at this moment," Gaynor continued. "The Jeffco brand may well go forward — it's all based on the outcome of the negotiations we are in right now."
Several months ago, Jeffco moved its headquarters from White Plains, N.Y., to Hildebran to complete the consolidation of operations at its 120,000-square-foot facility here.
Jeffco's High Point showroom at 425 N. Hamilton St. has been on the market for several months.
