Hickory Hardware builds for Habitat
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 14, 2007
Nashville, Tenn. — Hickory Hardware, a supplier of hardware for furniture and other uses, sent a crew of volunteers and donated products to a Habitat for Humanity building project here.
Volunteers included company President John Westendorf and his wife, Cari Lou, and John Pelka, vice president of marketing.
The Hickory Hardware crew took part in an effort to build 10 homes in five days in an around-the-clock marathon focusing on one residential housing block in Nashville's Providence Park area. The work is part of Habitat's Building Blocks program, which aims to raise awareness and eliminate substandard housing in the United States.
In addition to providing labor, the company donated exterior door hardware for all 10 homes.
"Giving back to the community is something that our company strongly believes in," said John Westendorf. "Nashville is Hickory Hardware's new home and we are excited that we could contribute in a small way to the Building Blocks program and to this community that has been so welcoming to us."
