Green Front to expand DC presence
Will open Manassas store in April
Clint Engel -- Furniture Today, January 30, 2007
FARMVILLE, Va. — Green Front Furniture will expand its Washington-area presence in April with the opening of an 80,000-square-foot showroom in Manassas, Va.
The store will replace its two-level, 32,000-square-foot showroom about 30 minutes north of Manassas in Sterling Va., giving Green Front room to broaden its assortment in the Northern Virginia market including at the high end, said John Wingo, general manager for the three-store Top 100 company.
He would not disclose Green Front’s investment or projected sales, but said, “Hopefully, sales will be twofold (the Sterling store) if not more.”
“The main thing is it’s a larger location all on one floor, so it’s easier for consumers and the employees to work,” Wingo added.
With the added space, the D.C.-area store will have a better selection by broadening offering from existing suppliers and by “picking up some higher-end lines,” he said, though he wouldn’t disclose the names. Wingo said Green Front also will expand its import furniture program.
Key suppliers to Green Front include Nichols & Stone, Lexington Home Brands, Hooker and Harden Furniture, all of which will have expanded presentations in the new store.
Green Front, which also has a giant 700,000-square-foot retail campus in Farmville and a 35,000-square-foot store in Raleigh, N.C., was No. 100 on Furniture/Today’s Top 100 with estimated furniture, bedding and accessories sales of $61.4 million in 2005.
