Trade Masters offering mixed containers, rebates
Thomas Russell -- Furniture Today, January 28, 2007
Peachtree City, Ga. — Case goods importer Trade Masters is launching a mixed container and rebate program this year to make it simpler and more affordable for retailers to buy product.
The mixed container program will supply product from a mixed-media factory and two wood factories in China. Combined, the plants produce more than 50 groups.
The wood factories supply youth and master bedroom, and one also supplies metal beds. The mixed media factory produces metal and glass casual dining sets.
Each factory will be able to ship as many as 10 different groups on a container in as little as two weeks after receiving the order, according to the company. Goods must be in stock to be shipped in the two-week window.
Companies that use their own logistics providers also may face longer lead times since they would have to arrange for their own containers.
The new rebate program offers rebates based on quantities ordered. For instance, a 25% increase over 2006 purchases would net a 1% rebate, while a 50% increase nets a 2% rebate.
A 75% increase would net a 3% rebate, while a 100% increase would net a 5% rebate.
The deals are based on FOB prices. For retailer to qualify, goods must be shipped and invoiced in 2007 and paid by the spring 2008 market.
Rebates also are open to new customers, but those rebates will depend on base sales amounts.
The new programs come on the heels of a difficult year for many retailers and their customers. President Ron O'Dell said the rebates in particular are an incentive aimed at helping those dealers through what may be another difficult period.
"I think 2007 will be a pretty tough year, and we want to partner up with our customers with these programs," he said.
