Jerry Lee Combs, SunBelt Furniture Xpress
North Wilkesboro, N.C. — Jerry Lee Combs, executive vice president of sales and marketing at transportation company SunBelt Furniture Xpress, has died. He was 63.
Combs began his career with Billings Trucking Co. in the mid 1960s. In 1989, he joined Norton Ramsey Motor Lines, which later became SunBelt Furniture Xpress.
"Jerry was loved by everyone he came into contact with. His philosophy on life was, if you did not have a smile he would give you his," said Brent Kiser, vice president of operations at SunBelt. "The furniture industry will not be the same without him. His encouragement lives on in all of us that knew him."
He is survived by his wife, two daughters, one stepdaughter, three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Brad Simpson, Clayton Marcus designer
Hickory, N.C. — Brad Simpson, a staff designer at upholstery manufacturer Clayton Marcus, has died. He was 46.
Simpson was a graduate of Kendall College of Art & Design in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Survivors include his wife, daughter, mother and grandmother.
