Keveryn named president of SLF
By Jeff Linville -- Furniture Today, January 28, 2007
High Point — Case goods and occasional furniture source SLF has promoted industry veteran Joe Keveryn to president.
Keveryn takes the position that had been held by George Revington, who is now president and CEO of parent company Home Meridian International.
Home Meridian also is the parent of manufacturer and importer Pulaski. The company was formed in September when Quad-C Management, an equity investment firm that already held a majority stake in Pulaski, acquired SLF.
Keveryn's promotion is the latest of several moves at the Home Meridian companies in the past four months. Larry Webb retired as president and CEO of Pulaski after helping with the merger, and industry veteran Don Mitchell was hired to replace him. In November, David Corbin, Pulaski director of marketing, left for Chromcraft Revington.
Longtime Pulaski executive Jim Kelly was named president of Solutions, the mass merchants division of Home Meridian International. Another division, Creations, launched its line of infant and juvenile furniture in September.
Revington, who was SLF's president for six years prior to the merger, said that with the promotion of Keveryn, the reorganization of the management teams for SLF, Pulaski, Solutions and Creations is complete.
"I am spending my time at HMI on the expansion of all four companies and the continued development of our global business system that moves fashionable, high-value home products from Asia directly to our customers' stores," said Revington.
Keveryn joined SLF — formerly Samuel Lawrence Furniture — in 2005 as vice president and general manager of SLF Select, the sharper-priced of its two lines (with SLF Signature hitting better price points). Earlier, he was vice president of sales at Trade Masters and Universal, where he spent 11 years.
Revington credited Keveryn with SLF's successful launches into new categories: youth, home office and home entertainment.
"Joe has been an integral part of the growth of SLF," Revington said. "He's a great salesman who has been the primary contact for our customer base, and he is a terrific product guy. He will now be responsible for the sales, marketing and product development at SLF."
"We have so many great new strategies at this company," said Keveryn. "Our Las Vegas showroom, which opens this month; expansion of our high-valued product lines; and a new program that allows for mixed and mini containers from Asia. SLF is focused on being the major case goods supplier to the largest furniture retailers in the country."
He reports to Revington, and both will continue to be based here.
