Five showing in Vegas' Plaza Hotel
Heath E. Combs -- Furniture Today, January 28, 2007
Las Vegas — Five companies that had planned to show at the Las Vegas Furniture Show at the Sands Expo and Convention Center are exhibiting ing downtown at the Plaza Hotel and Casino.
Albany Upholstery, Robert Michael Upholstery, Cambridge of California Upholstery, Wickline Bedding and Meadowbrook Upholstery are showing in about 20,000 square feet in the hotel's ballroom.
The exhibitors opened the ballroom at noon on Sunday, Jan. 28, and are showing through Wednesday, said Ben Nielsen, president of Cambridge of California, from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily
The Plaza lies along a hotel shuttle line to the World Market Center and is about a mile from the main show venue. The two events are unaffiliated.
"I think the convenience factor is what we like about it. The hotel has been very cooperative," Nielsen said.
The companies formerly showed in the Sands at The Las Vegas Furniture Show, an event organized independently from the World Market Center show. Louisville, Ky.-based Triad Expositions, organizer of the Sands show, canceled the January event this month but said it may still have a July event.
Nielsen said the Las Vegas Furniture Show's decision on the July market will help determine whether the Plaza companies will continue showing independently.
