Rug vendors will stay for Surfaces show
By Furniture Today Staff -- Furniture Today, January 28, 2007
Las Vegas — Rug vendors showing here this month will have a chance to woo another retail distribution channel a week after the curtain falls on the Las Vegas furniture market.
On Feb. 7, about 30,000 floor covering people will gather for the annual three-day Surfaces event at the Sands Convention Center.
In the past, many major rug vendors have taken part in the Surfaces show, which features all types of floor covering material. But now, top vendors such as Nourison, Oriental Weavers, Feizy, Momeni and Safavieh have permanent showrooms at the World Market Center.
Although most rug executives are not particularly fond of the Surfaces event, it historically has given them their only exposure to the floor covering retail segment. And they still want to do business in that channel.
In order to keep in touch with floor covering buyers, about 20 World Market Center rug tenants are keeping their doors open and showroom staff on hand for the Surfaces show.
Both vendors and the WMC will be providing transportation between the two venues to introduce Surfaces attendees to the WMC.
