Carthage, Mo. — Kathy Ireland is expanding her reach in the bedding category with a line of pillows and sleep accessories from a Leggett & Platt division.
Sleep Comfort Systems, part of L&P's Urethane Technologies division, has announced an agreement with the designer and marketer's company for a Kathy Ireland Home line of foam pillows, mattress toppers, support pillows and pads and other specialty sleep products.
The line will be introduced at the Home Textiles Market in New York Feb. 12–16, where Sleep Comfort Systems shows at 295 Fifth Ave., space 508.
Ireland already has brand partnerships with mattress producer Therapedic and with Basofil, a supplier of fire-resistant fibers to the mattress industry.
"It is a great joy to join the incredible legacy of Leggett & Platt to develop and expand our position in the sleep industry," said Ireland. "Few solutions are as meaningful to families as a good night's sleep, and we all sleep better since teaming with Leggett & Platt."
Added Gary Wahrmund, president of the Urethane Technologies division, "We are extremely pleased to partner with such a well-recognized consumer brand. Kathy Ireland is well known and respected for her message to working moms of home solutions and safety. With Urethane Technologies' strong history of research and development of innovative polyurethane foams, we intend to offer innovative products that consumers will find satisfying and reliable."
Joe Blazar, director of marketing for Sleep Comfort Systems, said the initial program will include a range of "uniquely shaped and supportive pillows." It will feature contour, micro-memory, molded, and memory foam products and latex mattress toppers.
The products will be designed to complement key Ireland brands: Essentials, Gallery, First Lady and J du J.
Blazar said Ireland is a good fit with Sleep Comfort Systems.
"Urethane Technologies' strength is in product development, quality of product and in a well-connected distribution network that will keep product in store and readily available," he said.
