Taylor King plans Mount Vernon upholstery
Washington’s estate inspires line

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Upscale upholstery producer Taylor King will introduce a licensed collection next month inspired by Mount Vernon, the historic home of George Washington and his wife, Martha.
Taylor King and the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Assn. collaborated on the collection, which will launch with more than 20 pieces inspired by paintings, architectural details and fabric samples found in the archives of the home of America’s first president.
Exclusive fabrics were developed by Taylor King and the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Assn. The association, founded in 1853, is a nonprofit organization that preserves, restores and manages the estate.
Though historical references can be seen in the fabrics and frame styles, the pieces are not strictly period reproductions.
“While we have been inspired by items from Washington’s estate to create this collection, the upholstery is styled for today’s consumer, both in scale and in sophistication,” said Del Starnes, Taylor King president.
The line will be high end but pricing has not been set.
Taylor King will show the collection March 25-31 during the High Point Market, in its showroom on the second floor of the 200 Steele Building. The space will open one day before the market’s official kickoff on March 26.
