High Point — High Point Market attendees can hark back to the 1970s next month with a concert lineup headlined by rockers Daryl Hall and John Oates.
Also on the bill: "Two Tickets to Paradise" singer Eddie Money; jazz, blues and gospel great Melva Houston; market veterans The Cookie Band; and Morris Day and the Time, Prince's funky co-stars in "Purple Rain."
Hall & Oates, whose roster of hits includes "Rich Girl," "Maneater" and "I Can't Go for That (No Can Do)," will kick off the market entertainment the evening of Monday, March 26. The concert series, called Stars under the Stars, will take place at the Showplace tent, and food and beverages will be served.
Houston, a North Carolina native, will perform March 27. Money, who also sang 1970s hits "Baby Hold On" and "Take Me Home Tonight," takes the stage March 28.
The Cookie Band cranks it up March 29, and Day's band will get in the groove on March 30.
"Once again this market, we're planning a jam-packed concert series with something for nearly every musical taste," said Brian Casey, president and CEO of the High Point Market Authority. "We're also pairing each of our events with enticing menus to make it easy for our guests to grab a bite and unwind after a productive day at market."
He said more events will be announced soon, including a reprise of the popular concert series launched last market in the Courtyard at Market Suites and Market Square, and educational offerings.
