Gold, Williams publish first design book
“Let’s Get Comfortable” hits stores this week

TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — Mitchell Gold and Bob Williams, the entrepreneurial partners who have spent the past 17 years driven by their vision to excel in home furnishings, are taking a big next step with their first book, which launches this week.
Gold and Williams, who run Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, a furniture designer, manufacturer and importer, are about to start promoting “Let’s Get Comfortable: How to Furnish and Decorate a Welcoming Home.”
They’re scheduled to appear on NBC’s “Today Show” Tuesday, March 13, during the 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. segment. That evening, they will kick off a book tour with an appearance at ABC Carpet and Home in New York.
The book, written with Mindy Drucker and published by Meredith Books, is designed to help both professionals and untrained consumers create beautiful, relaxed interiors.
The MG+BW aesthetic is based on mixing, not matching. It’s about a collected look that is comfortable and welcoming to everyone — including children and pets. The philosophy is reflected in the authors’ homes, and photos of their residences are included in the book.
“Comfort is more than the way a piece sits,” Gold said. “It’s also how it looks in the space in relation to the rest of the room, and how it will be used in daily life.”
Williams said their aesthetic is “about starting with the furniture and creating a soft, neutral setting where it can be the star.”
The book offers practical advice about furniture and color selection, as well as tips to give the reader confidence in buying furniture, a process that can make consumers anxious.
The 216-page book includes more than 200 photos and illustrations and is priced at $34.95. It will be available at Barnes & Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks and most independent booksellers, as well as Restoration Hardware stores and Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams Signature stores.
