A Furniture/Today story on page 1 of the March 5 issue, about a proposed California law that would ban certain types of flame-retardant chemicals, gave the incorrect name of a chemical company. The company, Chemtura — formerly known as Great Lakes Chemical Co. — worked with the federal Environmental Protection Agency to remove pentabromodiphenyl ether from the marketplace. The chemical was once a widely used flame retardant.
