High Point — Okolona, Miss.-based upholstery maker United Furniture Inds. will sponsor An Evening of Giving, a fundraiser for an organization that helps sick children, in its showroom courtyard during the upcoming High Point Market.
The event is set for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 26 at the UFI showroom, 134 N. Main St.
The fundraiser will benefit Flying Horse Farms, a non-profit that is building a summer camp and year-round retreat center for children and families in Ohio and the Midwest who are dealing with life-threatening and chronic illnesses.
Flying Horse Farms is the newest provisional member of the Hole in the Wall Camp family, founded in 1988 by actor and philanthropist Paul Newman. Today, there are camps in operation and development throughout the United States, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
Flying Horse Farms will be the first Hole in the Wall Camp in the Midwest.
The camps are designed as nurturing, carefree, physically safe and medically sound places where children with serious illnesses can relax and just be kids. They are free of charge.
UFI's fundraiser will include entertainment by the All-Industry Band in addition to finger food and cocktails.
"We are all here to do business, but it'll be great fun to kick off the market with the right spirit," said UFI President Larry George.
All donations to the charity are 100% deductible and there are several levels of giving so that any individual or company can contribute at an appropriate level. For more information, visit www.unitedfurnitureindustries.com.
